What is an ABPM device?

Coming January 2027

Our Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) service provides a detailed picture of your blood pressure over a 24-hour period, in the comfort of your own home. Unlike a single reading taken in a clinic, ABPM records your blood pressure at regular intervals throughout the day and night, giving your doctor a more accurate and complete understanding of how your blood pressure behaves during daily activities and sleep.

ABPM is especially useful for detecting:

  • White coat hypertension – high readings only in a clinical setting.
  • Masked hypertension – normal readings in the clinic but elevated at home.
  • Night-time hypertension – high blood pressure while you sleep.

The test is simple, safe, and non-invasive. A lightweight cuff is worn on your arm, connected to a small portable monitor that automatically records your blood pressure at set times. After 24 hours, the data is reviewed and a detailed report is provided to your doctor for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Why might I need an ABPM?

An Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor (ABPM) may be recommended if your blood pressure readings are inconsistent or if your doctor suspects that standard clinic measurements don't reflect your true blood pressure. Some people experience what's known as white coat hypertension, where blood pressure rises only in a medical setting, while others have masked hypertension, where readings appear normal at the doctor's office but are elevated at home.

ABPM is also helpful if you experience symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, palpitations, or chest discomfort, as it can show whether these are linked to changes in your blood pressure.

For patients already on treatment, ABPM provides valuable insight into how well medication is working throughout the day and night. It can also be an important tool in managing conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, or heart disease, where accurate blood pressure control is critical. By capturing a detailed 24-hour profile, ABPM gives your doctor the information needed to make the most precise diagnosis and treatment plan possible.

24 Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

The Hingmed ABPM is a modern, lightweight device that measures your blood pressure over a full 24-hour period. A soft cuff is placed on your arm and gently inflates at regular times during the day and night. The small monitor is quiet, tubeless, and weighs only 105 grams, so you can continue your normal activities — including sleeping — with minimal disruption.

This continuous monitoring gives a much clearer picture of your blood pressure than a single reading at the doctor's office. It shows how your blood pressure changes during daily life, at night, and in the early morning, helping your doctor diagnose conditions like "white coat" or "masked" hypertension and check how well your treatment is working.

In short, the Hingmed ABPM is:

  • Comfortable to wear all day and night
  • Discreet and easy to live with
  • Highly accurate and clinically validated
  • Designed to give your doctor the information they need for the best care
